  • Born: 1894, ask, ask, Piotrków, Russian Empire, Poland
  • Marriage (1): Cohn, Dina
  • Died: 1942, Auschwitz Death Camp - HOLOCAUST at age 48

  General Notes:

b. 1894, Lask; d. 1942, Auschwitz Death Camp) (although there is a birth of a Dawid Pacanowski in 1897 in Lask, which could be him). He married Dina Cohn (b. 1898) daughter of the rabbi of Zgierz, Rabbi Shlomo Yehuda Leib Cohn (who was not a rela tive) and Tzipora née Cohn, who was a relative. Tzipora was a daughter of Rabbi Tzvi Hersz Cohn, rabbi of Zgierz (son of Rabbi Elazar Wolf Cohn). [Dina Cohn is also included on the page listing the children of Rabbi Elazar Cohn and Braindla Lorb eerbaum].

Golda Winter Belkhatovski (second wife of Yitzchak Mordechai Winter, see below) submitted a Page of Testimony to Yad Vashem for David Pacanowski (ID #10684040). She says he was an author living in Pabianice as his permanent residence, a son of Jo seph Pacenowski and Rukhama née Meizlish (but this maiden name appears to be a mistake, since it should be Lewi - see above). She says David died at age 35, which also seems to be a mistake, since if he was born in 1894 he would have been age 3 5 in 1927, well before the Holocaust. Golda describes her relationship to David Pacanowski as “cousin’s wife.”

Golda Winter Belkhatovski also submitted a Page of Testimony to Yad Vashem in honor of David’s wife, Dina née Cohn Pacanowski (ID #10684052). She describes herself as the victim’s “cousin.” She doesn’t know her given name but knows that she wa s a daughter of “Shlomo Yehuda Leib Hacohen” which is correct. Golda says that Dina died at age 35. But if she was born in 1898 (see above) she would have been 35 in the year 1933 (before the Holocaust).

David Pacanowski’s daughter Chaia née Pacanowska Ninio submitted a Page of Testimony to Yad Vashem in his honor (ID #459709). She says he was a merchant, born in Lask in 1894 and that he died in Auschwitz in 1942. Chaia also submitted a Page o f Testimony for her mother Dina (ID #1501804). She wrote that her mother likewise died in Auschwitz in 1942.

David married Dina Cohn, daughter of Rabbi Shlomo Yehuda Leib Hakohen Cohn and Tzipporah Cohn. (Dina Cohn died in 1942 in Auschwitz Death Camp - HOLOCAUST.)
