Poet, translator and essayist. Editor of the journal Anateum (1938-1939). He used the pen name Stefan Napierski and converted to Catholicism. He was married to Irena Tuwim (b. August 22, 1899, Lodz; d. December 7, 1987, Warsaw) although he wa s a homosexual. Irena was a sister of the poet Julian Tuwim. Napierksi was arrested by the Gestapo in November, 1939, was placed in Pawiak prison and died on April 2, 1940 in a mass execution by the Germans in the village of Palmyra, south of Wa rsaw.


Marek married Irena Tuwim. (Irena Tuwim was born on Aug 22, 1899 in Lodz, Poland and died on Dec 7, 1987 in Warsaw, Poland.)
