She distanced herself from her family's wealthy lifestyle and worked as a teacher in the shtetl in Drohiczyn teaching the common people. she was a communist and even led a strike at her father's factory. She was arrested in January 1936 in Warsa w for conducting communist activities: (Marie Eiger, Woman Communist Leader, Gets 12-year Term in Warsaw" - JTA Archive).
