He was editor of the assimilationist newspaper Rozwaga. During World War II he was the editor of an underground pro-Polish assimilationist newspaper called Zagiew [The Torch], which was the organ of Zwiazek Mlodziezy Polskiej Pochodzeniu Zydowski ego [Association of Polish Youth of Jewish Descent]. At this time also he was the head of one of the divisions of the Jewish Police, or SP [Sluzba Porzadkowa - literally "order of service"] in the Warsaw Ghetto. His official title was: head o f the chancellery of the KSP [Kierownictwo Sluzby Porzadkowej] [SP Headquarters].
