General Notes: Husband - Filon Samuel [Stanislaw] Cohn

In his birth record his father, Mozesz Wolf Cohn, has the occupation of handlarz [dealer/shopkeeper] and is described as living in Kzimierz, but Warsaw is not mentioned. Filion Samuel marriedj Sara Chana Galewska in 1887 in Lodz. He was a docto r in Lodz. He is possibly buried in the Warsaw Jewish Cemetery. This Stanislaw Kohn in the cemetery died February 10, 1925 and lived 72 years but his wife's name is not Sura Chana. From the tombstone it appears to be Julia, maiden name Kernbaum , (d. March 6, 1925) age 65. The database says Julia's father's name was Stanislaw, but this must really be her husband since their ages are so close together (seven years apart) and he could not have a daughter at age 7. The same tombstone list s Zofia, maiden name Konowna (which means "daughter of Kohn") who died September 20, 1917. She must be the daughter.

However, we don't know if this Stanislaw Kohn buried in the cemetery is actually Stanislaw the son of Mojzesz Cohn, unless we know that he divorced his wife Sara Chana nee Galewska, or that she died, and he remarried. In the grave next to Stanisl aw there is the grave of a husband and wife: Izydor Kon (died March 24, 1921) and Ewelina nee Hejman (died October 15, 1915). But we don't know who they are.

Also in Warsaw there was a woman named Emilja Kernbaum married to Maks Cohn. She died on June 12, 1929, when she was a widow. Probably she was a sister of Julia Kernbaum mentioned above but we don't know who this Maks Cohn is. The Nasz Przegla d death notice of Julia Kohn nee Kernbaum confirms her husband's name was Stanislaw Kohn.
