(According to some sources he died in St. Petersburg) (His precise birth date, and the fact that his Hebrew name was Abram, comes from the book: Borowksi, Stanislaw. Szkola Glowna Warszawska 1862-1869: Wydzial Prawa i Administracji. Warsaw, 1 937, p. 291).
Lawyer and journalist. He attended the Szkola Rabinow [Rabbinic School] in Warsaw and later wrote a history of this school. After this he studied law and administration at the Szkola Glowna [The Centeral School]. He was one of the founders of t he periodical Jutrzenda [Dawn], the first major Polish-language Jewish newspaper in Poland, and was a regular contributor to the paper which succeeded it, Izraelita. As well as articles he wrote some poems in Polish which were published in Jutrze nda and Izraelita. He also wrote for other Polish-language periodicals and was a co-founder of the journal Przeglad Sadowy [Court Review] and founder of Gazeta Kolejowy [Railway Gazette]. He opposed Socialism and published articles criticizing i t. From 1895 to 1905 he lived in St. Petersburg where he served as secretary of the Central Committee of the ICA (Jewish Colonization Association) founded by Baron Maurice de HIrsch. IN 1905 he returned to Warsaw and resumed his work for Izraeli ta. He wrote several works on law and translated some other books into Polsih including Co to jest sztuka? [What is Art?] (1901) by Leo Tolstoy. He also wrote a history of the Rabbinic School in Warsaw, published in Z dziejow gminy starozakonny ch w Warszawie w XIX stuleciu: Szkolnictow, Vol 1. (1907).
