He lived in Lodz and helped with the publication of Hiddushe Maharakh. It is possible that he was a ritual slaughterer. In Lodz there was a man named Menachem Mendel Cohn who was a ritual slaughterer, and who had sons named Yaakov David (same na me as Menachem Mendel's brother), Yechiel Michel, and Bentzion.
