  General Notes:

She converted to Catholicism, in secret, when she was 15, being baptized by her piano teacher. Four years later she told her mother. She entered the Benedictine Abbey in Lemberg in 1890, along with her piano teacher. When she entered The monast ery she was advised to keep her Jewish birth a secret so she was know as "Maria Kaliska." She took the religious name of Sr. Izydora. In 1922 she was elected abbess of the community. Mother Izydora wrote a short, unpublished autobiography. I n 1946 her community moved from Lwow (Lvov) to Krzeszow in Silesia, now part of Poland.
