Our G-d and G-d of our fathers, may our prayers come before You, and do not turn away from our supplication, for we are not so impudent and obdurate as to declare before You, L-rd our G-d and G-d of our fathers, that we are righteous and have not sinned.
We have transgressed, we have acted perfidiously, we have robbed, we hav slandered. We have acted perversely and wickedly, we have willfully sinned, we have done violence, we have imputed falsely. We have given evil counsel, we have lied, we have scoffed, we have rebelled, we have provoked, we have been disobedient we have committed iniquity, we have wantonly transgressed, we have oppressed, we have been obstinate. We have committed evil, we have acted perniciously, we have acted abominably, we have gone astray, we have led others astray.
G-d, You are slow to anger, You are called the All-Merciful One, and You have taught the way of repentance. Remember this day and every day the greatness of Your compassion and loving kindness toward the descendants of Your beloved. Turn to us in mercy, for You are the All-Merciful One. With supplication and prayer we approach You, as You have made known to Moses the humble one in days gone by. Turn from Your fierce anger, as it is written in Your Torah. May we find shelter and lodge in the shadow of Your wings, as on the day when “The L-rd descended in a cloud.” Overlook our transgression and erase our trespass, as on the day when “He stood with him (Moses) there.” Heed our plea and hearken to our supplication, as on the day when “he (Moses) invoked the Name of the L-rd;” and there it is said:
And the L-rd passed before him and proclaimed:
L-rd, L-rd, benevolent G-d, compassionate and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in kindness and truth; He preserves kindness for two thousand generations, forgiving iniquity, transgression and sin, and He cleanses.
Merciful and Gracious One, we have sinned before You; have mercy upon us and save us.
אלקינו ולקי אבותתנו, תבא לפניך תפלתנו, ואל תתעלם מתחנתנו, שאין אנו עזי פנים וקשי ערף, לומר לפניך ה׳ אלקינו אבותינו, צדיקים אנחנו ולא חטאנו, אבל אנחנו ואבותינו חטאנו׃
אשמנו, בגדנו, גזלנו, דברנו דפי. העוינו, והרשענו, זדנו, חםסנו, מפלנו שקר. יעצנ רע, כזבנו, לצנו, מרדנו, נאצנו, סררנו, עוינו, פשענו, צררנו, קשינו ערף. רשתנו, שחתנו, תעבנו, תעינו, תעתענו׃
סרנו ממצותיך הטובים ולא שוה לנו. ואתה צדיק על כל הבא עלינו, כי אמת עשית ואנחנו הרשענו׃
ה׳ ארף אפים אתה ובעל הרחמים נקראת, ודרך תשובה הורית. גדלת רחמיף וחסדיך, תזכור היום ובכל יום לזרע ידידיך, תפן אלינו ברחמים, כי אתה הוא בעל הרחמים. בתחנון ובתפלה פניך נקדם, כהודעת לעניו מקדם. מחרון אפך שוב, כמו בתורתך כתוב. ובצל כנפיך נחסה ונתלונן, כיום וירד ה׳ בענן. תעבור על פשע ותמחה אשם, כיום ויתיצב עמו שם. תאזין שועתנו ותקשיב מנו מאמר, כיום ויקרא בשם ה׳ ושם נאמר׃
ויעבר ה׳ על פניו ויקרא׃
ה׳ ה׳ אל רחום וחנון ארך אפים ורב חסד ואמת׃ נצר חסד לאלפים נשא עון ופשע וחטאה ונקה׃
רחום וחנון חטאנו לפניך רחם עלינו והושיענו׃
