Cohn, Salomon Dawid (Stanislaw)
- Born: Dec 7, 1836, Warsaw, Poland
- Marriage (1): Taubwercel, Izabella
General Notes:
According to the book Neofici polscy (1904) by Teodor Jeske-Choinski, Stanislaw Cohn converted to Calvinism in 1886 along with his wife Izabella Taubwercel. This book gives his parents' names as Matyas Cohn and Szarlotta Lubelska. Stanislaw part icipated in the 1863-64 January Uprising and was wounded in battle at Szklary near the Austrian border. He recuperated on the estate of Count Adam Potocki.
Like his brother Jakob he went to Paris after the Uprising and applied for residence there. It is not certain if Stanislaw stayed in Paris or returned to Warsaw. Jeske-Choinski says he converted to Calvinism in 1886, but there were Calvinists i n both France and Poland. So it could have happened in either country.
The source for his living in Paris is the same as for Jakob Cohn: Bulletin des lois de l'Empire francais, vol. 26, page 887. In this source he is described as "Stanislas Cohn, merchant, born December 11, 1836 Varsovie, living in Paris (Seine). " The date of birth is slightly different from that listed above which comes from his actual birth record in Warsaw where his name is given as Salomon Dawid only (without Stanislaw).
Salomon married Izabella Taubwercel, daughter of Wolf Taubwercel and Teofila Endler.
