Pines, Yerucham Fishel

  General Notes:

He was an enthusiastic promoter of Zionism. He attended early conventions of Chibat Zion and was one of the first members of Chovevei Zion. He often preached about Zionism in the Ruzhany synagogue. Author of two books. He was married twice. H is first wife must have been a member of the Pines family (according to the meoirs of Ita Yellin, since she says Yerucham Fishel, Yitschak and Leib Wasz, since the other sons married Luria, Harkavy and Karpas). Probably Yerucham Fishel Pinwa marr ied a daughter of Meir Yosef Pines (the brother of Noach Pines). In other words, he probably married his first cousin, daughter of his uncle Meir Yosef Pines. Yerucham Fishel's son, Meir Yosef was likely named after Yerucham Fishel's uncle Mei r Yosef.

After the death of his first wife, about 1894, Yerucham Fishel married Rivka Rosenberg on June 25, 1897 in Vilna. Rivka was also widiwed and was a daughter of Zelman Morgenshtern.
