He moved to Rzeszow, Pzewworsk, and possibly lived in Dukla. His name is mentioned in the donors' list of the book Limudei Hateva (1837). He is listed there as Shmuel ZW"M Kohn, living in Rzeszow. Szmul was married twice. His first wife was Fr eide Frenkel, daughter of Rabbi Abraham Zeev Wolf Frenkel of Rzeszow, later of Przeworsk. He was a Chasidic rabbi and all the evidence indicates that Szmul was also a Chasid. For example, Szmul and Freide had a daughter named Rechel who was marr ied to Rabbi Abraham Horowitz, a grandson of Rabbi Naftali Tzvi Horowitz, founder of the Ropshitz Chassidic dyansty.
Szmul's second wife was Geishe Berman, daughter of Samuel Berman.
Szmul married Freide Frenkel, daughter of Rabbi Abraham Zeev Wolf Frenkel and ? Katelberg.
Szmul next married Geishe Berman, daughter of Samuel Berman and Unknown.
