General Notes: Wife - Ester Berman

(1903-2010) She married her relative Zussman (Ziga) Yavetz (b. January1, 1903, Lodz). He was a son of Yeshaya (Isaiah) Yavetz, son of Avraham Yavetz (who was a brother of the rabbi and historian Zeev Yavetz).

Ester and Ziga lived in Tel Aviv. There is an article about Ziga in David Tidhar's Encyclopedia of the Founders and Builders of Israel. He emigrated to Eretz Yisrael in 1919. He was involved in athletics in Israel and was a member of Maccabiah . He was also a member of Haganah and was active in the defense of the city in the 1930's.

Ziga was also involved in the storing of weapons and ammunition for Haganah in the Tel Aviv area in the 1920's. (from an article in Haaretz [January 21, 2010] by Dr. Nir Mann: "Cache as cache can: Recently discovered documents provide new detai ls on the network of secret arms depots created in the Tel Aviv area by the pre-state Haganah militia.")
