General Notes: Husband - Marek [Stefan Napierski] Eiger

Poet, translator and essayist. Editor of the journal Anateum (1938-1939). He used the pen name Stefan Napierski and converted to Catholicism. He was married to Irena Tuwim (b. August 22, 1899, Lodz; d. December 7, 1987, Warsaw) although he wa s a homosexual. Irena was a sister of the poet Julian Tuwim. Napierksi was arrested by the Gestapo in November, 1939, was placed in Pawiak prison and died on April 2, 1940 in a mass execution by the Germans in the village of Palmyra, south of Wa rsaw.
