Majer was a merchant. He was married to Freyda Laia Zabludowska on December 26, 1829 (marriage registered on July 24, 1834). Freyda Laia was born circa 1810 (she was 24 years old in 1834) and was a daughter of Izaak Dawid Zabludowski, a merchan t in Bialystok, and Pesa a daughter of Markus. Izaak Zabludowski was a wealthy lumber merchant, reputed to be the first millionaire in Russia, who was regarded as a "Russian Rothschild" according to the memoirist Yekhezkel Kotik. Majer and Frey da Laia moved to Bialystok at some point. Majer is mentioned in the Bialystok yizkor book as a maskil.
