General Notes: Wife - Helena Cohn

She was married to Zygmunt Heryng, socialist, economist, translator, and publisher. Helena and Zygmunt were among the earliest members of the first socialist circles in Warsaw. In 1879 Zygmunt and Helena were arrested and placed in Pavilion X o f the Warsaw Citadel. When Zygmunt was sentenced to exile in Siberia, Helena voluntarily joined him. They were married in Krasnoyarsk, Siberia. In 1883 they returned to Warsaw. Helena was an active member of the PPS (Polsish Socialist Party) a nd after the split within the party in 1906, she joined the right wing nationalist faction of the party. The Polish government posthumously awarded her with the Medal of Independence, on December 19, 1930.

After Helena's death Zygmunt Heryng married again. HIs second wife was Natalia Politur and they had a daughter named Halin, born 1920.
