General Notes: Wife - Ewa (Ewelina, Chava) Cohn
She was married to Gustaw (Gershon) Moser an agent/commissioner [komisant] from Prussia. According to the birth record of her son Moritz, from 1852, she was age 21 at the time of his birth (therfore born circa 1831), and according to the birth re cord of her son Victor in 1832 she was 23 (therefore born circa 1832). However, on April 8/20, 1864 she stated that her age was 29 (therefore born in 1835). This was from a statement she made to the police after she was arrested for possibly aid ing revolutionaries in the 1863-64 January Uprising.
In this statement she said that she was a widow and was being supported by her father Matyas Cohn, who made his living from propinacja [productioin and sale of liquor]. She also stated she had three children, a daughter and two sons, and that th e eldest son (age 11) was currently going to school in Prussia. Her younger children were being cared for by her Roman Catholic governess, Aleksandra Krzyzanowska, who was also arrested.
In her statement to the police, Ewa declared, "with an absolutely clear conscience" that she had never been a member of any revolutionary organization. However, she admitted to receiving some packages from a teacher, Professor Roman Zulinski, wh o was known to her. Roman Zulinski was later executed at the Warsaw Citadel for his role in the January Uprising.
