Majer was a merchant. He was married to Freyda Laia Zabludowska on De cember 26, 1829 (marriage registered on July 24, 1834). Freyda Laia w as born circa 1810 (she was 24 years old in 1834) and was a daughter o f Izaak Dawid Zabludowski, a merchant in Bialystok, and Pesa a daughte r of Markus. Izaak Zabludowski was a wealthy lumber merchant, repute d to be the first millionaire in Russia, who was regarded as a "Russia n Rothschild" according to the memoirist Yekhezkel Kotik. Majer an d Freyda Laia moved to Bialystok at some point. Majer is mentioned i n the Bialystok yizkor book as a maskil.
