Always being careful and respecting privacy, some family member names have been omitted from the internet presentation.

Mailed order for Monkarz marriage records. These records are for two of Chaja Bejla (nee Tachna) Monkarz's daughters. The Monkarz family is interrelated to both the Tachna family and the Kur family. What is of interest is the marriage of Gitla Fejga Monkarz to Alter Bencion Slowik. It's the surname Slowik that is of interest because Jamie Wayne Binstock's wife Anna is a Slovick. Between the Polish spelling and the English spelling it is the same exact name. I must ask Janice (nee Wayne) Binstock to find out if maybe that her daughter in law Anna may be from an already interrelated family? Who knows...?

I'm ready to send payment for the Monkarz marriage records and the Szyrchel birth and death records. It should take about another month for the records to arrive.

I went to Susie Sills' house last night for the breaking of the Yom Kippur fast as has been tradition for all of my life. It is the only chance and time that I get to see the Detroit relatives.

I sent out an email noting this and giving my cheer for a new year for all of us.

One thing I pointed out is the relation of the esoteric significance of the Tachna name and family to Yom Kippur. I have deduced and come to theorize this from the Midrash's story of the saintly Jew Abba Tachna; someone who the late Lubavitcher Rebbe told me in 1987 that is our ancestor. The significance of the story is the relation to redemption - a theme of Yom Kippur - to the self sacrifice of Abba Tachna negating his own concerns for the sake of rescue and welfare of another Jew. I have not as of yet posted the story of Abba Tachna on this website, I'm waiting for full knowledge of my speculation. Nevertheless his story is linked to Koheles and the time of year of Yom Kippur.

Good news on the birth of Rafi Benjamin Lander son of Gregory and Susan (nee Glicksman) Lander. Also the wonderful joy of the births of twins Davis Cooper Lewy and Arden Lila Lewy, children of Joseph and Lori (nee Ratisher) Lewy. Davis Cooper and Arden Lila are also the great great grandchildren of Rav Chanoch and Rojzla Ruchla (nee Tachna) Nutkevitz.

The family tree has been updated accordingly.

I received the copies of the two Monkarz marriage records a few weeks ago and I am waiting for the Szyrchel birth and death records before I send them off to the translator.

Also, added to the family photos section is a picture of Sarina Tachna, daughter of Romulo and Rosa Tachna.

It has been a big hassle getting a new computer and having to transfer and reload all of my website information, but finally I have done it and I am again uploading.

It is with great sorrow that the news came of the passing away of Edith Muriel (nee Tachna) Jefferson on January 5, 2012. She was the daughter of Max and Rose (nee Rosenblatt) Tachna and the granddaughter of Leib and Bessie (nee Landau) Tachna. She had a long life, having lived 96 years. We will miss her.

Alas, life renews itself with the joyous birth of Nili Chaya Szmuk-Framowitz, daughter of Shlomo Binyumin and Na'ama (nee Davids-Grenwald) Framowitz of Kfar Sava in Israel on January 9, 2012.

With the reset of my new computer I today was finally able to upload to the Records From Poland section the seven Szyrchel birth and death records and the two Monkarz marriage records.

The new record uploads are for:

1. The 1879 birth of Wulek Szyrchel in Mlawa, Poland.

2. The 1886 birth of Mordka Szyrchel in Mlawa, Poland.

3. The 1896 birth of Samuil Jakub Szyrchel in Mlawa, Poland.

4. The 1896 death of Wulek Szyrchel in Mlawa, Poland.

5. The 1898 death of Samuil Jakub Szyrchel in Mlawa, Poland.

6. The 1899 birth of Szulim Szyrchel in Mlawa, Poland.

7. The 1899 birth of Marjem Szyrchel in Mlawa, Poland.

8. The 1904 marriage of Gitla Fejga Monkarz and Alter Bencion Slowik in Czyzewo, Poland.

9. The 1904 marriage of Rywka Monkarz and Mejer Kur in Czyzewo, Poland.

Tomorrow I will upload the updated information to the Family Tree section of this website.

I have had the most pleasent and wonderful contact from Sorah (nee Eyrich) Stein. She is the wife of Yirmiyahu Yaakov Stein who's great grandmother was Fejga (nee Tachna) Stein. Sorah tells me that at Shabbos dinner with Hindy (nee Cooper) Ginsburg she was told about this website. Sorah emailed me with information. Among the information is that her son Jordan just put on tefillen at the Kotel with his relatives present. A hearty Mazal Tov to that!

I thanked Sorah for the information and I mentioned to her that her husband's great grandmother's grandmother Sora (nee Kur) Tachna comes from a family with descendancy from King David. There is allot of inter-relation between the Kur and Tachna families by way of marriages and births going way back to Nur, Poland.

Thank you again Sorah for contacting me and helping to keep the family tree alive and growing!

I discovered in the Family Photographs section that several photos were missing, primaraly of Esther Malke (nee Nutkevitz) Silberberg and her daughter Ruthie (nee Silberberg) Lewy as well as for Channoch and Marta (nee Menashe) Nutkevitz. The pages existed in the folder but somehow the links on the index page were missing. Needless to say, the problem has been fixed and now those photographs exist under the Family Photographs section.

A few days ago I sent a request to the Polish Archives for the 1902 death certificate of Gitla Frimet (nee Tachna) Jablon and for the Stawiski family records. The Stawiski family records are for the children of Bejla Tachna and Ruchim Stawiski.

I am also about to mail a request for records to the Jewish Historical Institute in Warsaw, Poland.

Today on Facebook I sent a friend request to David Winton as well as to his two daughters Naomi and Leah. I downloaded Naomi and Leah's profile pictures and I put the on the website under the Family Photographs section.

-------------------------------------

Saturday, May 5, 2012

David Winton and his daughter Naomi just confirmed me as a friend on Facebook. Therefore I have also uploaded to this site a family picture of the family of David and Rosalind (nee Hearne) Winton and two more pictures of Naomi and Leah Winton.

Benjamin Grinstein informed of the death of his mother Rosa (nee Aks) Grinstein on April 30, 2012. Rosa was one of the last generations from the old world, she was born in Mlawa, Poland and emigrated from there to Mexico with her parents Nachman Juda and Chaja (nee Tachna) Aks.

Everyone has spoken of Rosa as a matriarch of the family. She will be dearly missed.

I also have learned of the death of Miriam (nee Salsberg) Himelfarb, granddaughter of Shimon Leon and Esther (nee Tachna) Davidovich. Miriam was also the mother of Liz, Karen, and David Himelfarb and the sibling of Simon Leon Salsberg and Tessy (nee Salsberg) Gorodzinsky.

Jacobo Grinstein has a new grandchild with the birth of his grandson Gabriel Weisz, son of Samuel and Galia (nee Grinstein) Weisz.

Remembering Larry Sills on the 25th anniversary of his death on August 16th. He was one of 156 people killed in the crash of Northwestern Airlines Flight 255 at Detroit's Metropolitan Airport in 1987. His family thinks of him everyday and everyone who knew and remembers him are filled and touched with great sorrow.

Thursday, September 27, 2012

I just uploaded a family picture of the family of Romulo and Rosa Elena (nee Velderrain) Tachna. Also uploaded right after it is a picture of their three children Rosa Elena, Romulo Fernando, and Sarina.

Yesterday I went to Susie Sills' house for the breaking of the Yom Kippur fast. It was good to see the Detroit relatives again. Nice to see from out of town was Scott Perlmutter. His father Jack Perlmutter is going strong in his late 80's. Needless to say that longevity runs in the Perlmutter family. Bessie (nee Tachna) Perlmutter lived to be 95. My grandmother Rose (nee Perlmutter) Cohen lived to be 98. Al Perlmutter lived to be 92. I hope that I may have inherited those longevity genes!

-------------------------------------

Just uploaded two pictures of Andrew and Shayna (nee Jerris) Weitz and then another picture of the Family of Andrew and Shayne (nee Jerris) Weitz with their three daughters Chloei Hannah, Cameryn Ash, and Carly Rose

Wonderful news comes of the birth of Tohar Oren in Israel. Tohar is the daughter of Asaph and Odeliyah (nee Irani) Oren and the granddaughter of Shirley (nee Malloy) Oren. Tohar's great grandparents are Joseph and Rosa (nee Davidovitch) Malloy and her great great grandparents are Shimon Leib and Esther (nee Tachna) Davidovitch.

I also received this past week the five records that I ordered from the archives in Poland for the four Stawiski marriage and death records as well as the death record of Gitla Frimet (nee Tachna) Jablon. Payment was sent to the translator and I am awaiting the translations to arrive.

-------------------------------------

Monday, October 29, 2012

I got the translations back on the Stawiski deaths and marriage record as well as the death record for Gitla Frimet (nee Tachna) Jablon. It turns out that the Stawiski records are for unrelated individuals, persons not connected to the Tachna family. Oh well, it was a worthy shot to take. Gitla's translation was for the right person. As of just a few moments ago I have uploaded the 1902 death record of Gitla Frimet (nee Tachna) Jablon. It is now under the Records From Poland section of this web site.

Sunday, August 11, 2013

For the past week I have been on an intensive marathon studying the family of Abram Chuna Kur and his wife Chava Monkarz.

About a week ago I sent orders to the Polish Archives for copies of Abram Chuna Kur's marriage record and the births of a number of his children; not also to mention the marriage records of two of his children.

Wednesday I stop in at the Mormon's Family History Library to look at a roll of microfilm for one of these records. The rest are coming from the Polish Archives Lomza and Pultusk regional branches.

I have formally joined Ancestry.com in this effort of investigation for Kur descendant's who made it to the United States. Lot's of success in that with more success on the way. In the meantime I am uploading what information I have gathered solely from Ancestry.com via examining Passenger Lists, Census Data, and Naturalization Documents.

By going to the family tree and clicking on the name Abram Chuna Kur you can discover what I have found up to today with yet more to come!

-------------------------------------

Sunday, August 25, 2013

Earlier this week I uploaded the 1969 marriage record of Abram Chuna Kur and Chawa Monkarz to the Records From Poland section of this website.

Today I made a telephone call to Helen (nee Stein) Greenstein to ask her about information about her uncle Boruch Dovid Stein. She informed me that she never had contact with her uncle and her family for many, many, years but she did provide for me the Americanized names of her four cousins. From that I did a search on Ancestry.com and found the 1940 census record for Boruch David Stein and his wife and children. According to the census, Boruch's english name he changed to Ben and his wife's first name was Aida. The Americanized names of Ben David Stein's four children are the oldest daughter Anna, the second oldest son Ernest, the next son Martin, and the youngest child Harold. Now maybe, just maybe, I can track down more information and wouldn't it be a great stroke of fortune to hopefully find their living descendants!?

Sunday, September 15, 2013

Sunday, September 22, 2013

I just uploaded the two birth records for Bernardo Makarz and his brother Mordka Gimpel Monkarz. They are the children of Abram Biniamin Monkarz and Sura Glina. Bernardo Makarz is also the grandfather of Gabriella (nee Tenenbaum) Cividini and Valeria Paula (nee Erlijman) Vera. Bernardo Makarz was born in Czyzewo, Poland and later immigrated to Argentina. His descendants still live in Argentina today.

I really hit the mother-load with information on the descendants of Abram Tachna and Devorah Gajer! Thanks to a posting on the JewishGen message board I got in contact with Arthur Menton and Adam Brown who are researchers into the Kur family who are also descendants of the Charlap family who are descendants of King David; an extremely important lineage! From their research I have found numerous descendants, some of them living today. It is more than I could ever have hoped for. It has expanded the family tree immensley. All of that information has been uploaded to the family tree.

After finally receiving the seven requested Polish vital records from the Polish Archive in Lomza, I got the translations back yesterday and today I uploaded them. It took three requests to get these records. The first two attempts were answered that the records did not exist, which was untrue. Finally on the third attempt the Archive in Lomza responded and I sent payment and received the records in about four weeks. My translator is phenominal and I am truly grateful to her. The seven newly uploaded Polish vital records are:

The 1879 birth of Isidore Cohen

The 1880 death of Lejbko Kur

The 1885 birth of Mejer Kur

The 1896 birth of Burich Kur

The 1897 marriage of Isidore Cohen and Anna Brissel

The 1898 birth of Chaim Cohen

The 1900 marriage of Benjamin Kur and Sarah Kopito

Ruth is the daughter of Max and Rose (nee Rosenblatt) Tachna and the granddaughter of Leib and Bessie (nee Landau) Tachna.

Tuesday, April 7, 2014

I added a group photograph of the total family of Isaac and Ellie (nee Goldstein) Leventhal to the Family Photos section. This family portrait includes all of the grandchildren.

A couple of days ago I also added a photo of Anat (nee Leventhal) Arie.

I got back from the translator the indexings of LDS microfilms 702496 and 702497. These are the Jewish vital records from the 1808-1820 and 1818-1825 Civil transcripts of Roman Catholic parish register of births, marriages, and deaths in Mlawa, Poland that also contain Jewish records. These years are for the years before the Jews in Poland adopted surnames and before the Jewish Civil transcripts of births, marriages, and deaths were done seperately. I only identified one probable match for the Tachna family; the 1821 death of Malka Szaya, the daughter of Jakob Szaya and Dobra. That record along with it's English translation has been added to the Records From Poland section.

I donated these indexings to JRI-Poland and I was contacted by the leader of that website Stanley Diamond by email and then telephone. The indexings that I did are being converted to the standard JRI-Poland format and will be added to that database.

I finally figured out how to get the video tour of Mlawa, Poland to play on the website. I had to convert it to mp4 format. Now everyone can take a tour of Mlawa, Poland.

I had the video of Mlawa made for me by a service in Poland. It was recorded in 1997.

When watching, remember to press the play icon in the window to start the video. You can go fullscreen by selecting the fullscreen icon in the lower right of the screen. To escape fullscreen, press the escape key on your keyboard.

4. The 1883 birth of Max Young.

Tuesday, August 26, 2014

I learned today from Denise (nee Marner) Share of the sudden and unexpected and deeply sorrowful passing away of Janice (nee Wayne) Binstock. Janice was the daughter of Harold and Frances (nee Smith) Wayne and the granddaughter of Isaac and Polly (nee Vigon) Weinberg. Isaac Weinberg was born in Mlawa, Poland and emigrated from there to London, England. He was one of the children of Juda Nyson and Ester Maria (nee Wajnberg) Tachna who were also of Mlawa, Poland.

Janice leaves behind her husband Anthony Michael Binstock, son Jamie Wayne Binstock and daugher Kelly Leanne (nee Binstock) Hopkins. Janice also recently became the proudest of grandmothesr of Joshua Benjamin Binstock and Chloe Mia Hopkins.

Janice was a very important person in the family research. It was she who contacted me many years ago and lead to the discovery of so many of the relatives in England. Her loss is a true tragedy for everyone.

Tuesday, December 23, 2014

Allot has happened since I last wrote on this blog. Foremost is the passing away of Ruth Candace Tachna, daughter of Max and Rose (nee Rosenblatt) Tachna and the granddaughter of Leib and Bessie (nee Landau) Tachna, on November 14th. Ruth turned 100 years old earlier this year and she led a long and most extremely impressive life! Her daughter Leslie tells me how humble her mother was about all of her accomplishments. Really - an intensive biography can be written about her. Like her father Max Tachna, Ruth was a prominent attorney who served the world of law extensively. Among just a couple of her accomplishments was that she was a law proffessor and that she was known personally by American President Franklin Roosevelt of whom Ruth's daughter found a note in Ruth's memorabelia from President Roosevelt inviting Ruth Candace Tachna to the White House in Washington D.C. for lunch. Incredible, isn't it, that Ruth never spoke or commended herself for having reached such an incredible height of noteriety. I champion Ruth's daughter Leslie to write a biography, or to have a biography written about her mother. Leslie expressed that there is so much that her mother had done in her life and there is so much still left to learn about the things that Ruth Candace Tachna did.

Next of what is news is the discovery of more Tachna relatives! These now known family relatives are the descendants of Nathan and Viola (nee Young) Fisher. Viola was the daughter of James Martin Young whose birth record from the archives in Poland I have posted in the Records From Poland section of this website. James Martin Young's mother was Gitla Frimet (nee Tachna) Jablon.

Initially I was contacted by Harriet (nee Fisher) Jones who is the daughter of Robert Fisher and the granddaughter of Viola (nee Young) Fisher. It has been a pleasure to correspond with her.

Later on I was forwarded the email address of Elizabeth Anne Lieberman by Bobbie (nee Hill) Fromberg whom Elizabeth contacted. Elizabeth is a great granddaughter of Viola (nee Young) Fisher. Elizabeth informed me extensively about the descendants of her great grandmother Viola. You can find this information on the Family Tree section of this website. I friended some of these relatives on Facebook and I have uploaded quite a number of their photographs as well. These added photographs are for Elizabeth Anne Lieberman, Dana Magat, Alan Magat, Natalie (nee Magat) Guntert, Brielle (nee Magat) Shaddix, Shira Magat, Raya Magat, and Alisa Jones. These photographs are on the Family Photographs section of this website.

I have also uploaded to the Family Photographs new pictures of Evelyn (nee Yeme) Tachna - the wife of Enrique Tachna and a new picture of Susana (nee Leventhal) Goldman with her husband Abraham and two of their grandchildren Ilan and Taly Goldman.

January 22, 2015

The new photographs are of Kfir David in the Israel Defense Forces, another more recent photograph of Leila Marsh, another more recent photograph of John and Lisa (nee Tachna) Rutherford, and more recent photographs of Steven Rutherford and Taylor Joseph Rutherford.

Samuel Perlmutter was born March 15, 1888 in Nasielsk, Poland and passed away February 10, 1964 in Detroit, Michigan, United States. Bessie Tachna was born March 17, 1882 in Mlawa, Poland and she passed away January 21, 1978 in Detroit, Michigan, United States. Samuel Perlmutter and Bessie Tachna were married March 11, 1903 in Mlawa, Poland.

Samuel Perlmutter's parents, Jankiel Perelmutter and Laia Bialostocka were Ger Chassidim who lived in Nasielsk, Poland and who were married August 12, 1876 in Laia Bialostocka's native town of Nowy Dwor, Poland.  Bessie Tachna's parent's were Shimon Alter Tachna and Zysla Kon who lived in Mlawa, Poland and who both were born of Ger Chassidic parents and who were married October 29, 1880 in Nowy Dwor, Poland.

Of Samuel and Bessie (nee Tachna) Perlmutter's children, Jack Perlmutter was their youngest and last surviving child.  Jack Perlmutter's siblings were my grandmother Rose (nee Perlmutter) Cohen who was born in Nasielsk, Poland on May 27 1905 and who passed away July 12, 2003 in West Bloomfield, Michigan, United States, Al Perlmutter who was born September 6, 1907 in Nasielsk, Poland and who passed away September 17, 1998 in Detroit, Michigan, United States, and Annie (nee Perlmutter) Jerris who was born April 12, 1913 in Mlawa, Poland and who passed away February 15, 1974 in Windsor, Ontario, Canada.  Jack Perlmutter was born November 27, 1924 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States and he lived in Grosse Pointe Farms, Michigan, United States at the time of his death.

Samuel Perlmutter emigrated from Poland to the United States just before World War One.  Before he could send for his wife Bessie and his children Rose, Al, and Annie to join him in the United States, World War One broke out and Bessie with her three children were stuck living in Poland throughout the duration of World War One. After the war, in 1920, Samuel Permutter's wife Bessie and his three children Rose, Al, and Annie were finally able to join him in the United States.  They initially lived in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States where their youngest child Jack Perlmutter was born. Later as a family they moved to and settled in Detroit, Michigan, United States.

Jack Perlmutter was a loving and supporting father to his children. He was also as an "elder-statesman" of the family having been born to our elder generation that were of our lives back in Eastern Europe.  He owned a very successful, highly regarded, and highly sought after Interior Design business located in Franklin, Michigan, United States.

It is a true sorrowful and a very dear loss with the passing away of Jack Perlmutter.  Like I have just mentioned, he was of the elder generation from which we come and his passing is a significant and tragic mile-stone.  Jack Perlmutter will be remembered with great adoration and fondness by all of us who knew him.

I just uploaded another photograph of Aldar David, a beautiful picture of her. She is the daughter of Avigal (nee Nutkevitz) David and the granddaughter of Channoch and Marta (nee Menashe) Nutkevitz. Aldar's great great grandmother was Rojza Ruchla (nee Tachna) Nutkevitz.

I have also uploaded two photographs of Ian and Claudine (nee Fields) Heger. Ian is a descendant of Aron and Briensha Rywka (nee Tachna) Slepowicz.

I have been combing through the family of Luzer and Chaya (nee Tachna) Kon looking for more possible vital records for their family. I have spotted a birth and death record for their son Berek Kon. I am trying to match other possible records for other of their children. Certainly I am going to be requesting a copy of Berek Kon's birth and death records and I will see what other records may be possilbe to gain a hold of.

Proudly Luzer and Chaya (nee Tachna) Kon's son Eliyahu Cohen was a member of the Irgun in pre-statehood Palestine. The Irgun was a group of freedom fighters that fought for the independance of the State of Israel in British Mandate Palestine. I only really wish to one day locate his descendant's and be able to hear what amazing stories they may have about Eliyahu - particular his brave and courageous service in the Irgun.

On this past Yom HaShoa, Marcia (nee Zabusky) Harwitz posted on Facebook a beautiful and very significant photograph of her great grandparents Aron and Briensha Rywka (nee Tachna) Slepowicz with their daughter, and Marcia's grandmother, Harriet (nee Slepowiz) Zabusky. This family portrait was taken in Zareby Koscliene, Poland in about the year 1925. Aron and Briensha were martyred in the Holocaust with most of their children except their daughter Harriet who immigrated to the United States in 1939. Thank G-d that Harriet is still with us today. A few years ago I was able to get a copy of Harriet (nee Slepovicz) Zabusky's birth record for her granddaughter Marcia and her other family members. That record is on the Records From Poland section. I uploaded the family photograph of Aron and Briensha Rywka (nee Tachna) Slepowicz with their then young daugher Harriet to the Family Photographs.

On the Family Interviews section of this website I have re-recorded and I have remastered the tapes and recordings of some of the family interviews that I conducted, along with my father Selden Allen Tachna's eulogy. The result is that we now have phenomally higher quality recordings that are now of a tremendously higher quality and they are also now allot more clear and they are with virtually no noise.

You can now listen to these far higher quality recordings of some of the family interviews and my father Selden Allen Tachna's eulogy at: http://www.tachna.com/Interviews.html.

My apologies for not working on the Tachna site for so long.

Nevertheless, we welcome the birth of Hanna Tachna on July 17, 2015 in Tuscon, Arizona, United States. Hanna is the daughter of Enrique and Evely (nee Yeme) Tachna and the granddaughter of the late Luis Tachna and his widow Blanca (nee Felix) Tachna. Hanna's great grandparents were Zalman and Nijie (nee Wieschinsky) Tachna who were from and were married in Mlawa, Poland and who then emigrated to Mexico where they started their family. Many wonderous years to come for the family of Enrique and Evelyn and their daughter Hanna. Pictures of Hanna are now on the website.

I have uploaded a bunch of new photographs to the Family Photographs. These include two gorgeous pictures of Marlena Rose Sager who has now become a represented model. Other photographs are of the earlier years of Isaac and Elisheva (nee Goldstein) Leventhal. There are more pictures of Jamie and Anna (nee Slovick) Binstock with their growing son Joshua Benjamin. There is an antique photograph of the famed Hollywood composer Victor Young with his young neice Roberta Vilma (nee Hill) Fromberg. A recent photograph of Jessica Marie Albrecht has been added along with a photograph of the late Rhoda (nee Nemeth) Sills taken probably around the time of her marriage to the late Arthur (Archie) Sills. So too is a family portrait of the family of Michael and Stacy (nee Zabusky) Eliav.

Marcia (nee Zabusky) Harwitz shared some wonderful photographs of her grandparents Jack and Harriet (nee Slepowicz) Zabusky. Included is Harriet with some of her great granddaughters.

January 16, 2016

Our family has been befallen by two great tragedies, the passing away of George Louis Itzkowitz and the passing away of Roberta Vilma (nee Hill) Fromberg.

George Louis Itzkowitz passed away this past November 23, 2015 in Pheonix, Arizona, United States. His passing is a tragic, saddening, and highly significant milestone as George Louis Itzkowitz was the last living member of our Tachna family to have been born in and to have come from Eastern Europe; most specifically the Polish town of Mlawa where many others of the Tachna family were also from.

George Louis Itzkowitz was born on September 27, 1920 in Mlawa to his parents Abraham Itzkowitz and Anna Tachna.  Abraham Itzkowitz was born on May 15, 1893 in Poland and his wife Anna Tachna was born in about the year 1894 in Mlawa, Poland to her parents Szaja Tachna and Ruchle Wilczek.  Szaja Tachna, who was George Louis Itkowitz's grandfather, was born on December 12, 1857 in Mlawa, Poland to his parents Hersh Aryeh Tachna and Siemy Wyszynow.  Ruchle Wilczek, George's grandmother, was born in 1861, also in Mlawa, to her parents Avram Yitzhak Wilczek and Esther Rasia Zamojskiewcz.  Szaja Tachna and Ruchle Wilczek were married in Mlawa, Poland on December 18, 1885.

Szaya and Ruchle (nee Wilczek) Tachna had a total of ten children. George's mother Ann (nee Tachna) Itkowitz was her parents fourth oldest child.  I do not yet know the date of Anna's marriage to her husband Abraham Itzkowitz but soon after, in the town of Mlawa, their two sons Ralph Itzkowitz and George Louis Itzkowitz were born.  Ralph Itzkowitz was born February 12, 1918 and George Louis Itzkowitz was born September 27, 1920.  Sometime soon after George's birth, in the very early 1920's, Abraham and Anna (nee Tachna) Itzkowitz emigrated from Poland to the United States with their two sons Ralph and George and they settled permanently in Chicago, Illinois.  Anna (nee Tachna) Itzkowitz passed away in about the year 1949 in Chicago and her husband Abraham Itzkowitz passed away in 1965 also in Chicago.

Ralph Itzkowitz went on to marry Lillian Draznin who was born on December 11, 1914.  Ralph and Lillian (nee Draznin) Itzkowitz have two sons; Alan Itzkowitz who was born on July 05, 1950 in Chicago, Illinois, United States and Barry Itzkowitz who was born on June 29, 1954 also in Chicago, Illinois, United States.  Alan Itzkowitz married Wendy Teichman on June 12, 1975 in Chicago, Illinois, United States.  Wendy (nee Teichman) Itzkowitz was born November 30, 1952 in Chicago, Illinois, United States like her husband Alan.  Together Alan and Wendy (nee Teichman) Itzkowitz have two children, a daughter Laura Itzkowitz who was born April 06, 1980 in Park Ridge, Illinois, United States and a son Bryan Itzkowitz who was born May 20, 1983 in Lake Zurich, Illinois, United States.

George Louis Itzkowitz was married to Naomi Goldberg and together the have two daughters, Carol Louis (nee Itzkowitz) Abrams and Anita Lewis (nee Itzkowitz) Grossman.  Carol Louis is married to Charles Abrams and Anita Lewis is married to Aaron Grossman.  Together Charles and Carol Louis (nee Itkowitz) Abrams have two daughters, Caryn Abrams who was born in the year 1969 in Highland Park, Illinois, United States and Amy Abrams who born in 1973 also in Highland Park, Illinois, United States.  I do not know of yet on the children of Aaron and Anita Lewis (nee Itzkowitz) Grossman.

George's grandmother Ruchle (nee Wilczek) Tachna died in Mlawa, Poland in about the year 1911.  George's grandfather Szaja Tachna was murdered by the Nazis in the Holocaust.

My wishes of condolences and support go out to George Louis Itzkowitz's family and I know that he will be dearly missed by all of us.

Roberta Vilma (nee Hill) Fromberg passed away this past December 09, 2015 in Santa Monica, California, United States. Bobbie, as she was known, was a key and very important person in the genealogy of our family.  It was she who was the one who was responsible for bringing so many of us together.  So much of what has been known about our family and about each other has been because of her.  She was always very enthusiastic and always incredibly supportive.  Her contributions to all of us has been absolutely phenomenal and totally priceless.  It was she who played the key and vital role in not only gathering us all together as relatives, but also in keeping us all gathered together with one another.  I am personally very sad and heartbroken that she is gone now.  Bobbie was also to me as a good and cherished friend.

Bobbie was the daughter of Henry and Helen Annie (nee Young) Hill.  She was also the niece of the famed Hollywood music composer Victor Young.  Bobbie's grandparents were William David Young and Rosie Segal.  William David Young was born in Mlawa, Poland and he later emigrated to the United States.  He was the son of Hirsch and Gitla Frimet (nee Tachna) Jablon who were from the town of Mlawa, Poland and he was also the sibling of Rebecca (nee Jablon) Titon, James Martin Young, Sidney Young, Sarah (nee Young) Young, and Nathan Young all of whom many of us are living descendants of to this day.  Really and truthfully - knowing all about the Jablon-Young family and families has only been possible because of Bobbie.

Bobbie leaves behind her daughter Victoria Claire (nee Fromberg) Davis and her son Howard Rudolph Fromberg as well as all of their children and Bobbie's grandchildren.  Bobbie's granddaughter Allie Davis just emailed me with the news and Allie writes that her grandmother, "...was peaceful, with her family and went out on her terms.  She enjoyed you all so much and I know we will all miss her."  I will miss Bobbie very much indeed.

June 30, 2016

I have just learned from posts on Facebook that Merle (nee Osterer) Zabusky has passed away. My and all of our heartfelt sympathies and condolences go out to her family and loved ones.

She is the widow of the late Byron Zabusky and the much loved mother of Marcia (nee Zabusky) Harwitz and Jonathan Zabusky.  Her late husband Byron Zabusky, the father of Marica and Jonathan, was the son of Jack and Harriet (nee Slepovicz) Zabusky. Harriet Zabusky herself was the only surviving child of her parents Aron and Briensha Rywka (nee Tachna) Slepowicz who perished in the Holocaust with all of their five other children Yossel, Yisroel Sender, Toby, and twins Hillel Meir and Anya Leah.

Aron and his wife Briensh Rywka were married on February 18, 1922 in Zareby Koscielne, Poland.  Aron was born there in 1897 to his parents Hersz Zelman and Sura (nee Dyber) Slepowicz.  Briensha Rywka was born in the town of Komorowo, Poland in 1896 to her parents Abram and Feyga Tachna.

Their surviving daughter Harriet (nee Slepovicz) Zabusky was born on August 24, 1923 in Zareby Koscielne, Poland and she immigrated to the United States in 1939 coming to live with her Slepowicz family grandparents and relatives.  She married Jack Zabusky in 1941 and together they started their own family becoming the parents of Byron Zabusky, Fern (nee Zabusky) Heger, Allan Zabusky, and Bonnie (nee Zabusky) Bromberg.

Her passing is truly saddening and she is going to be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. To all of her family and to all of those who knew and loved her, our heartfelt sympathies are with all of you.

I have again remastered and uploaded the recordings of the family interviews that are posted on this website on the Family Interviews section.

The recordings are now a far better quality than they were from even the first time that I remastered them.

It is now very much easier to hear everything that is being said on the recordings.

Anyone who want copies of the recordings on an audio CD, only needs to let me know and I will be more than happy to make the CD's for you and to mail them to you all at absolutely no cost to your or anyone.
